The Land Use Planning Coordinator will provide coordination and support services for land use planning commissions in Nunavut, in line with northern Comprehensive Land Claims Agreements (including the Nunavut Agreement, Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement, and the Eeyou Marine Region Land Claims Agreement). This role involves reviewing land use plans, coordinating federal participation in planning processes, consulting with Indigenous organizations, and representing CIRNAC in meetings and workshops.
This opportunity is open only to Indigenous persons (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) residing or employed in Nunavut.
Conduct technical reviews of proposed land use plans and amendments.
Coordinate CIRNAC and federal partner participation in land use planning processes.
Represent CIRNAC at meetings, workshops, and public hearings.
Engage and collaborate with territorial governments and Indigenous organizations.
Education:
Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
Experience:
Experience in land use planning or resource management.
Experience in collaborative processes, projects, or working groups.
Experience networking and consulting with internal or external clients.
Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, or procedures.
Assets:
Post-secondary education in urban/regional planning or related fields.
Experience working in Inuit cultural or northern contexts.
Ability to communicate in Inuktut.
Language: English essential
Salary: $96,235 to $104,044 per year
Isolated Post Allowances: $26,770 to $44,616 annually (based on dependents and location)
Vacation Travel Allowance: approx. $2,000 twice per year per eligible family member
