We require a dedicated, compassionate individual to ensure the child’s well-being and safety. This is a full-time, live-out position with a competitive pay range. Fluency in English is mandatory. • Wage: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
• Benefits: Provincial statutory benefits under the Employment Standards Act (ESA), enrolment in the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI), 10 paid vacation days per year, paid public holidays, and private emergency healthcare insurance until Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) coverage begins

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Child Supervision and Care: Supervise and care for one 3-year-old child in the employer’s home, ensuring the child’s safety, well-being, and development at all times.
· Daily Routine & Personal Care: Bathe, dress, and feed the child; assist with toilet training and personal hygiene routines appropriate for a toddler. Oversee daily activities including meals, playtime, and naps/rest periods as instructed by the parents.
· Nutrition and Meals: Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks for the child, taking into account any dietary restrictions or allergies. Ensure the child eats properly and maintain a regular meal schedule.
· Educational Activities: Organize and lead age-appropriate educational and play activities to support the child’s physical, emotional, and social development. Examples include games, arts and crafts, reading sessions, outdoor play and walks to the park, and educational outings.
· Safe Environment: Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home at all times. This includes childproofing as necessary, supervising the child during indoor and outdoor activities, and teaching safety rules.
· Light Housekeeping Related to Child: Perform light housekeeping duties related to the child’s care. This includes tidying up the child’s play areas, cleaning up after meals and activities, washing the child’s dishes, doing the child’s laundry, and keeping the child’s room and belongings clean and organized.
· Emotional Support and Discipline: Tend to the emotional well-being of the child by providing affection, comfort, and positive reinforcement. Develop a nurturing bond with the child. Discipline the child according to the methods requested by the parents to encourage positive behavior and respect boundaries.
· Hygiene and Self-Care Teaching: Instruct and assist the child in personal hygiene habits and self-care, such as hand-washing, brushing teeth, and potty training, in a fun and age-appropriate manner. Help the child learn basic manners and social skills through everyday interactions.
· Accompany to Appointments/Outings: Accompany or transport the child to and from any appointments, playgroups, or activities as required (e.g., doctor’s appointments, community programs, library story time). Ensure safe travel and supervise the child during outings.
· Communication and Record-Keeping: Maintain a daily log of the child’s activities, meals, nap times, and any noteworthy incidents or milestones. Communicate regularly with the parents about the child’s day, share important information, and discuss any issues or concerns promptly.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Education: Completion of secondary school (High School diploma) is required. Postsecondary training in early childhood education or a related field is an asset.
· Experience: At least 6 months of full-time experience in child care is required. Experience caring for toddlers or preschool-age children is preferred. Experience can include work as a nanny, babysitter, daycare worker, or other relevant roles.
· Language: English fluency is required . The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English with the child and the parents, and be able to read children’s books, instructions, and emergency information in English.
· Skills and Attributes: We are looking for someone who is reliable, patient, and loving towards children. The ideal candidate should have effective communication skills, be able to follow instructions and routines set by parents, and have the initiative to engage the child in creative activities. Organization and time management skills are important for maintaining schedules and routines.
· Personal Suitability: Must be trustworthy, dependable, and punctual. A genuine interest in childcare and child development is essential. The candidate should be energetic enough to keep up with an active 3-year-old and demonstrate empathy and understanding of child needs.
· References: References from previous employers (especially those in childcare) will be requested and checked. The household is a non-smoking environment, and the candidate must adhere to a smoke-free workplace policy.
