Sign inThe Construction Helper will assist Sheet Metal Workers and Apprentices with the installation, assembly, and maintenance of HVAC duct systems. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals seeking to gain hands-on experience in the skilled trades, with opportunities for growth into an apprenticeship program.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the installation and assembly of sheet-metal duct systems and fittings.
Perform taping, duct sealing, flexing, insulating, and general housekeeping duties on job sites.
Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment safely.
Support Journeypersons and Apprentices during fabrication and installation.
Follow safety procedures and maintain clean, organized work areas.
Work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including multi-story buildings.
Qualifications
Physically able to lift up to 100 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.
Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces.
A driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Basic understanding of construction safety practices (training provided, but WHMIS, Fall arrest, and 1st aid are helpful). At least one year of experience in a construction helper role. A High School Diploma is a requirement. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Must be able to communicate in English.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, permanent position offering $19.20 per hour for approximately 40–45 hours per week. Work is based out of our shop at #4-311 Rocky Lake Drive, Bedford, Nova Scotia, with job sites located throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) and surrounding areas.
