A Calgary family is seeking a caring, responsible and dependable Home Child Care Provider to provide consistent care for two young children.
This position may be well suited to a young adult with childcare experience who is interested in building further experience working with infants and young children.
Schedule
Monday to Friday
6:30 AM–9:30 AM +4:45 PM–7:45 PM
Saturday
8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Total: 39 hours per week
The position involves a split weekday schedule based around the children’s daycare and family routines.
Occasional schedule adjustments may be required during daycare closures, professional development days and holidays. Occasional overnight stays may also be required.
Responsibilities
Provide attentive, safe and age-appropriate care for two young children
Supervise the children and ensure their safety and well-being
Prepare and serve nutritious meals, snacks and drinks for the children
Assist with feeding as appropriate
Assist children with dressing and personal hygiene
Bathe children and assist with morning and evening routines
Change diapers and assist with toileting/toilet training as required
Follow established nap, sleep and bedtime routines
Transport/accompany children to and from daycare, preschool, activities and appointments as required
Complete daycare/preschool drop-off and pick-up
Provide care during daycare closures, professional development days and holidays
Provide occasional evening and overnight childcare
Plan and supervise age-appropriate play, reading, crafts, educational activities and outdoor activities
Support the children’s emotional, social and developmental needs
Wash, dry, fold and put away children’s clothing and linens
Organize children’s bedrooms, play spaces, toys, clothing and belongings
Clean children’s dishes, bottles, cups and eating areas
Pack and organize daycare bags, clothing, snacks and children’s supplies
Keep children’s areas clean, safe and organized
Communicate with parents regarding meals, sleep, activities, routines and general well-being
Follow established family routines and parental instructions
Respond appropriately to minor injuries, illness and other childcare needs
This is a child-focused position. Laundry, cleaning, food preparation and organizational responsibilities relate directly to the children and their care. General household housekeeping unrelated to the children is not a primary responsibility.
Qualifications
Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent
Previous childcare experience is an asset
Experience caring for infants, toddlers and/or young children is an asset
Ability to safely and independently care for two young children
Ability to prepare simple, nutritious and age-appropriate meals and snacks
Strong English communication skills
Dependable, responsible, patient and organized
Ability to follow established schedules and parental instructions
Comfortable working independently in a private household
First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
Criminal record/vulnerable sector check may be required
