Speciality Foods Chef – NOC 62200 Full Time

Karakoram Restaurant Inc., located in Richmond, British Colombia, requires an experienced full-time Speciality Foods Chef – for Pakistani – kadai (or karahi) and South Asian Cuisine. Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Experience and Skills Required: 3 years to less than 5 years’ experience in the field

Experience and specialization –

Cuisine specialties – Pakistani – kadai (or karahi); South Asian Cuisine; South Indian; East Indian; Vegetarian; Halal;

Wages: Starting at $38.40 per hour; working 35 hours per week (mornings, day, evening, weekend, overtime available).

Education : Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Certificates, licenses, memberships, and courses : Food Safety Certificate (HACCP; Kitchen Sanitation)

Language : English

Job Duties: Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items; Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory; Create new recipes; Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food; Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets; Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions; Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods; Requisition food and kitchen supplies; Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs; Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions; Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards; Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances; Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food; Leading/instructing individuals;

Supervision : 1 – 2 people

Work Settling : Restaurant; Urban area; Willing to relocate; Relocation costs not covered by employer;

Work site environment : Wet/damp; Noisy; Hot;

Work conditions and physical capabilities : Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, handling a large workload with attention to detail. Entails standing for extended periods
